Why this matters
16mm
See It On 16mm and The Frida Cinema are teaming up to celebrate 30 years of Wes Craven’s iconic 1996 slasher Scream! Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is a high school student in the town of Woodsboro who becomes the target of a masked killer known as Ghostface. As the killer terrorizes the town, picking off Sidney’s friends one by one, the survivors must navigate the killer’s twisted game of horror movie tropes. With the help of horror movie-obsessed Randy (Jamie Kennedy), Sidney and her group try to figure out the identity of Ghostface while staying alive. As quotable as it scary, Scream revitalized and changed the slasher film genre forever by lovingly tearing it to pieces. Thirty years later, Ghostface is still terrorizing audiences, and seeing it on glorious 16mm is about as close as you can get to stepping back into a 1996 movie theater on opening weekend!
